Mandatory Concussion Training for Administrators, Coaches, Mentors and Referees

CLICK TO TAKE THE ONLINE CLASS:  NFHS Learning Center

To protect young athletes, the State of Ohio law requires that all youth sports programs administrators, coaches, mentors and referees must complete an approved concussion awareness course and provide evidence of successful completion to their youth sports program administration before the season begins.

This is mandatory and it is expected that Northwest Kiwanis administrators, coaches, mentors and referees will not be permitted to participate in our soccer program without providing evidence of successful completion of this training.

To our coaches, we sincerely appreciate and understand that you are volunteering your time for our program; however, with this law we must comply and ask for your cooperation and support to do this.

Concussions are very serious and we must treat this topic very seriously! Believe it or not, Soccer ranks very high in the number of concussions. We firmly believe that this training will help you understand what you should do and shouldn’t when one of your players receives a concussion.

Take the free 30 minute online course offered by the National Federation of High Schools – follow the instructions below.  At the end of the course you will be provided with a certificate of completion for the course. Be sure to print a copy of your certificate and keep it with your important papers since this certification is good for a three year period and covers you for any youth sport you coach.  Also email a copy to the NWK Soccer Administrator for our program to keep on file.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and your support for the Northwest Kiwanis Soccer Program.
